Occupational Health & Safety
DG Advisor helps clients comply with national and international hazard communications regulations. This may take the form of MSDS and Labeling. We are familiar with other occupational safety regulations such as OSHA Process Safety Management.
Regulations like many things often assume a shade of gray versus black and white. When this affects business it is often worthwhile to obtain a clarification from the applicable agency.
Principal consultant Ben Barrett represents the Sporting Arms & Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI) on the Technical Committee on Explosives of the National Fire Protection Association. We also belong to the ICC and monitor the International Fire Code.
Exporters of explosives must normally obtain licenses from the Department of State or the Department of Commerce. Other documentation may be required by the US Census Bureau. Explosives importers need licenses from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
Package Design & Testing
Most packages of dangerous goods must be tested for physical endurance based on “performance oriented packaging (POP)” regulations. The severity of the testing depends on the mode of transport and the hazard level of the material. Only laboratories certified by DOT for the purpose are qualified to perform this testing and file the required documentation.
